Getting to Perugia
Perugia, located in central Italy, is a beautiful city with a rich history, stunning architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene. When you are planning your trip to Perugia, you might be starting your journey at Rome's airport, also known as Leonardo da Vinci International Airport or simply Fiumicino.
In this article, we'll provide you with step-by-step directions on how to get from Rome airport to Perugia.
Option 1: Take a Bus
The easiest and most convenient way to get from Rome airport to Perugia is by taking the great Sulga bus. We recommend it as the best possibility as the bus is a budget-friendly option and the journey is very scenic. Our staff will be waiting for you next to the information rotunda, holding a flyer of MusicFest Perugia to direct you to the bus stop!
Here's what you need to do:
From the airport, head to the bus station, which is located just outside Terminal 3.
Purchase a ticket for the bus that goes from Rome to Perugia. You can buy your ticket either from the bus driver or from a ticket office.
The bus journey takes about three hours and makes several stops along the way, including in Perugia.
Once you arrive at Perugia central bus station, our guides will accompany you to the hotel's Lobby for registration!
There are 3 Sulga buses leaving Fiumicino Terminal 3 at 9:00, 14:30 and 17:00 going directly to Perugia. But more on the current bus schedule as we closer to June!
The FLIXBUS are to avoid, because they are never on time, can get stuck on the way.
Option 2: Rent a Car
If you prefer to have the freedom and flexibility to explore the area at your own pace, you can rent a car and drive from Rome airport to Perugia. This option is ideal if you have a valid driver's license and are comfortable driving in Italy. Here's how:
From the airport, head to the car rental office, which is located in Terminal 3.
Rent a car, making sure you have a valid driver's license and a credit card for the deposit.
Follow the signs for the A1 motorway, which will take you from Rome to Perugia. The journey takes about two and a half hours and is well signposted.
Once you arrive in Perugia, you can park your car in one of the city's public parking lots and explore the city on foot.
We have limited ability to send a private car to Fiumicino and will cost you 250 euro cash.
Option 3: Take a Train
If you have not taken the train from Rome to Perugia before, we do not recommend taking it as the stops can be unclear, and we don't want you to miss your stop! Since the trains are usually late and overcrowded- we advise you to use the other, fantastic options.
