Eitan Globerson

Eitan Globerson, conductor and pianist, regularly conducts all orchestras in Israel, and performs frequently as a pianist in solo and chamber music concerts. He has won acclaim of both public and press.

Eitan Globerson graduated “Summa Cum Laude” from the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he received his B.Mus degree and Artist Diploma. He completed his studies at the Hannover Musikhochschule, where he received a Soloist Diploma.

He studied piano with Professors Boris Berman, Irina Edelstein, Michael Boguslavsky and Arie Vardi, clarinet with Yaakov Barnea and cello with Gershon Friedman. His conducting teachers were professors Mendi Rodan, Hans-Herbert Joeris and Lutz Koehler.

Mr. Globerson’s many prizes include the Francois Shapira Prize in 1987 (the most prestigious music prize in Israel), prizes at the Dino Ciani Competition in Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy and the UNISA piano competition in Pretoria, South Africa, as well as numerous prizes in major national competitions.

Mr. Globerson has conducted all major orchestras in Israel, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Camerata, Israel Sinfonietta Orchestra, Israel Kibbutz Orchestra, Young Israel Philharmonic orchestra, Israel Stage Orchestra, Caprizma Contemporary Ensemble, as well as Israel Northern Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonette Orchestra, in both of which he served as conductor in residence. He has also conducted the Concerto Grosso orchestra in Frankfurt.

During 2000-2004, Mr. Globerson served as conductor in residence at the New Israeli Opera, where he has conducted Norma, La Cenerentola, Katja Kabanova, Andrea Chenier, Peter Grimes , Simon Boccanegra, Madama Butterfly, Attila, Rusalka, and La Fanciulla del west.

He has also conducted The Magic Flute at the Israel Northern Symphony Orchestra, Die Lustige Weiber von Windsor at the Hannover Musikhochschule, and The Pied Piper of Hamelin (contemporary Israeli opera by Haim Permont) in three different productions (with the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Sinfonietta Orchestra and the Israel Symphony Orchestra).

During the 2004-2005 concert season he served as assistant to the Musical Director (the late Maestro Gary Bertini) at the “Teatro San Carlo” in Naples, until Maestro Bertini’s death in March 2005.

Among the singers with whom he collaborated in performances are: Anna Tomova-Sintow, Paata Burchuladze, Sir Donald Mclntyre, Antonio Salvadori, Eduard Tumagian, Fiorella Burato, Nicola Martinucci, Alberto Mastromarino,Elena Zelenskaya, Gabi Sadeh, Daniela Longhi, Nuccia Foccile, as well as many other world famous singers.

He has produced, narrated and conducted numerous youth concerts with original programs and titles, such as: From Minuet to Piruet, Around the World in 60 Minutes, The Time Tunnel (a condensed History of Music), Pantomimemusic, The Selfish Giant (a guide to the Orchestra), as well as many others.

As a soloist, Mr. Globerson has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Camerata Orchestra, South Africa National Orchestra, Brno Symphony Orchestra, Symphonette Orchestra, Contemporary Ensemble “21-Century”, the Hannover Musikhochschule Orchestra, as well as others. Recorded numerous solo and chamber music works for the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA). Performed in solo concerts in Israel, Europe, the U.S.A. and the Far East.

Since 1991, Mr. Globerson has been a faculty member at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he has been teaching piano and conducting, as well as various Music Theory courses. Served as Head of the Piano Department in the years 1996-2000. Many of his students are prize-winners of important competitions and perform regularly in Israel and abroad. He serves frequently as a jury member in all national music competitions. Guest lectures, concerts and master-classes in the following music schools and summer festivals: Yale University Graduate School of Music, Chicago University School of Music, Columbus University Ohio School of Music, Hochschule für Musik Freiburg as well as the Perugia Music Fest.

In parallel with his music activities, Mr. Globerson is currently working on a PhD in brain sciences at the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center, Bar Ilan University. His main field of research is the effect of basic auditory aptitudes on prosodic receptive abilities. As a lecturer on topics involving Brain Sciences, he was invited to give lectures at the European Conference on Complex Systems (Hebrew University, Jerusalem, 2008), Presence and the Science of Virtual Reality (Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Israel, 2008) as well as the Kongress zur Musikphysiologie und Musikermedizin (Musikhochschule Freiburg, 2009).
