Applicants of all ages are welcome, and those over 40 may apply to the Pianist Forever. Participants aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times, wherever they are lodged. Participants under 18 may attend unaccompanied if a parent or legal guardian appoints a designated adult guardian for the duration of the festival; the guardian decides whether the student travels to classes alone or with others. Parents attending with their child must purchase an Auditor Card.

In-person participants may choose to stay at one of the festival’s partner hotels or arrange their own accommodation.

The official festival hotels are Hotel Sangallo, Hotel Priori and Hotel Brufani, at the center of Perugia.

All festival hotel rooms are double or triple occupancy. Participants may request a specific roommate; otherwise, the festival will assign a roommate of similar age and the same sex.

Single Rooms

Single rooms are available for an additional fee of €500, subject to availability and prior confirmation by the festival.

Applicants must submit video recordings of a minimum of two contrasting works, representing different styles, periods and characters.

Scholarships are awarded to those in need only.

Applicants wishing to be considered for financial assistance should send an email to info@musicfestperugia.net with the subject line “Scholarship Request”. Only applicants who have submitted a festival application are eligible for consideration.

All scholarship decisions are made at the time of admission and communicated as soon as possible following the review process.

  • In order to not miss the welcome meeting, participants are expected to arrive in Perugia no later than 5:00 PM on July 22, 2027, and will check out on August 1, 2027.

Participants may arrive in Perugia before the start of the festival; however, they are responsible for their own lodging and related expenses. Practice facilities will not be available until the first day of the festival.

Practice facilities are available to all piano participants Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Each participant is assigned two-hour practice slots, scheduled around their other festival commitments.

Breakfast is included for all participants staying at the official festival hotels. Participants are otherwise responsible for their own meals.

An optional Meal Card package is available for €120, entitling the holder to one additional meal per day at participating restaurants.

The main international gateway to Perugia is Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO).

SULGA operates a direct bus service from Fiumicino Airport to Piazza Partigiani in Perugia. To simplify arrival, the festival has arranged a private SULGA coach running directly from Terminal 3 of Fiumicino Airport to the Sangallo Palace Hotel, where the Music Fest Perugia registration desk is located. Festival staff will meet participants at the airport and accompany them to the coach.

This service is strongly recommended. It runs without intermediate stops and takes participants directly to registration, making it considerably faster than the public SULGA buses (departing at 9:00 AM, 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM), which serve several stops along the route.

Music Fest Perugia takes place in some of the most distinguished venues of Perugia’s historic centre, all within walking distance of one another. The festival unfolds amid the city’s medieval streets, panoramic views over the Umbrian countryside and a renowned local culinary tradition.

The festival venues include:

  • Sala dei Notari, Palazzo dei Priori, Corso Vannucci, Perugia [masterclasses / concerts]
  • ERRETI Music School, Via della Pallotta 8, Perugia (practice rooms)
  • Hotel Sangallo Palace, Via Luigi Masi 9, Perugia (registration desk)

Music Fest Perugia offers ten consecutive days of total immersion in music. A standard day is structured as follows:

TimeActivity
7:00 – 9:00 AMBreakfast at the hotel
10:00 AM – 1:00 PMIndividual lessons; orchestra rehearsal on concert days
2:00 – 3:30 PMMarathon recital (all participants)
7:00 – 8:00 PMMaster recital (all participants)
8:00 – 9:00 PMDinner
9:00 PMConcert with orchestra (all participants)

The festival’s experienced staff has developed a scheduling method that prevents overlaps between masterclasses, orchestra rehearsals, practice time and other commitments.

Each participant receives an individual schedule at arrival.

Extra Activities

In addition to the core programme, the festival offers a range of complementary opportunities:

  • Conducting workshop (by invitation)
  • Competition preparation for exceptionally gifted young musicians (by invitation)
  • Observation of rehearsals for the opera production
  • Media and television interviews for selected students and faculty members
  • Reception with ambassadors and distinguished guests on the evening of the opera

Additional lessons may be arranged subject to faculty availability. Requests may be submitted at any time of the festival, and each additional lesson carries a fee of €250.
